Echoes of Mary – Tuesday 12th July 2022

Hello dear followers of Mary’s Storyworks blog.

First for those of you planning to attend, a reminder that West Norwood Crematorium is on Norwood Road, Norwood, London SE27 9JU.

Buses 2, 322 and 68 have stops close by and to walk from West Norwood Station should take about ten minutes. Be aware that from the entrance gates to the chapel is a good ten minutes walk, It would be best to aim to be at the crematorium chapel around 2.15.

If you are coming by car, there’s lots of parking space in the cemetery grounds. But be aware that the gates will close at 6pm sharp

There is parking in Robsons Road which runs by the side of the cemetery and in the grounds of St Luke’s Church just across from the gates.

For distant friends who would like to join in the webcast the details are as follows. The link is: https://watch.obitus.com . The User name is bevo9694 and the Password is 976449 . The webcast is due to be online five minutes before  the 2.45 pm funeral start time. If that’s the middle of your night, it will also be possible to view it on ‘Watch Again’ for a good number of days. And we think it will be possible to download the whole event in due course. Probably worth trying the link in advance to see it’s working.

After the formal service we shall be taking the short walk to The Portico, Knights Hill, West Norwood, SE27 0HS – to continue celebrating Mary to the echo with sparkling refreshments and with singing and sharing memories and stories. We’ll hope to report on that next week.

Thank you for posting details. I am not able to attend on zoom but will be thinking of mary and you all. So many stories to tell!

I am so sorry I will not be able to be there in person. My thoughts are with you. My students at Warwick University and the wider network of teachers in Coventry and Warwickshire whom Mary touched, will forever been endebted to her for her scintillating storytelling workshops, with their blend of drama, humour and good sense. She has left an enormous legacy in this part of the Midlands and changed practice in many schools and nurseries.
All my good wishes to you.
    Hilary
